Freelance 3D Artists - Remote

The company

Blink Image are a highly respected UK studio creating imagery, animation and interactive assets for projects across the UK.

Currently a high proportion of our work is in the high end Industrial sector, which has taken centre stage as the world goes online. Industrial developments are traditionally seen as neither beautiful nor exciting - it is our role to make industrial business parks look ‘cool,’ exciting, and great place to work.

The success of our approach has seen our work in the sector described as ‘Best in Class.’

High demand for our services means we are now looking for talented artists to help build on our reputation, grow the company and continue pushing the creative envelope.

Description

Experienced 3D freelance artists adaptable to whatever is thrown at them.

It is quite easy to create a fabulous image of a fabulous building designed by a fabulous designer - (this is why many decent architects create images inhouse)

But we live in the real world.

You need to be able to tease out fantastic imagery from even the most basic and functional projects.

This is the skill that we want.

The role involves thinking on your feet -

  • sometimes finished designs aren’t available, so you will need to extrapolate architectural detail;

  • sometimes designs change mid-project, so you needs to adapt and be flexible;

  • sometimes there isn’t enough time to refine everything, so you need to be able to prioritise to hit the deadline;

  • sometimes projects pass from one artist to another, so you need to be organised and logical so others can pick up the reins.

Responsibilities -

  • You will work on a variety of projects, across all sectors as workload dictates. Our primary focus currently is the industrial sector.

  • With every new brief, you will gain clear insight into the project and understanding of the client’s objectives, in order to create the images and animation which most effectively help to deliver those objectives.

  • You will take projects from start (sketches and supplied 3D models) to finished images and animation.

  • You will light and texture models, landscapes and environments to a high standard.

  • You will use Photoshop to combine rendered elements with photography and image enhancements to create beautiful images.

  • You will undertake accurate, technical imagery involving camera matching and verified views.

  • You will work alongside the creative director, project manager and fellow 3d artists to deliver great work on time and on budget

  • For each project, you will liaise with the scheme’s project team to ensure their design intent is accurately portrayed (and foster good working relationships in the process)

  • You will create detailed and accurate 3D models from supplied architectural drawings.

  • You will take part in regular team (Zoom) meetings where we discuss our work and ways we can make it even better

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable ability to understand and interpret 2D architectural drawings

  • Proven ability to create accurate and optimised 3D models (preferably with 3ds max, AutoCAD, sketchup)

  • Proven ability to work from supplied architects’ models (eg exported from sketchup, revit etc)

  • Ability to ‘Fill in the gaps’ of an incomplete or sketchy design (sometimes just a building footprint)

  • Ability to render with good composition, lighting and materiality  (preferably with 3ds max and Vray)

  • Good post-production skills (Photoshop)

  • The ability to accurately camera match into photography/video

  • Verified View production experience

  • An understanding of keyframing and animation

  • A knowledge of realtime rendering

  • You must be a fluent English-speaker

  • Good client communication skills - email and telephone

  • Proven ability to work in a highly productive and collaborative environment

Benefits

A friendly, diverse, talented and international group of colleagues eager to create great work, share their knowledge, push the boundaries and explore new technologies and techniques

  • You will use your skills and experience in motion graphics and visual effects to take our animations to the next level.

Sales and Accounts Manager - Remote - Closing date for applications 11/06/2021

The company

Blink Image are a highly respected UK creative studio creating imagery, animation and interactive assets to communicate upcoming construction projects across the UK.  Our work helps our architect and property developer clients attract investment, gain planning permission, secure high quality buyers and occupiers, and grow public support for their plans.

Our work is a bellwether for the construction industry, the focus shifting from prime residential to industrial to retail to commercial as the industry demands.  Currently a high proportion of our work is in the high end Industrial sector, which has taken centre stage as the world goes online.  It’s traditionally seen as neither beautiful nor exciting, so it’s fortuitous that turning conventional wisdom on its head, transforming perceptions and proving it can be both is in our studio’s DNA.

The success of our approach has seen our work in the sector described as ‘Best in Class’ and strong demand for our services.

What we need
We are planning to triple the size of the business over the next 4-5 years.

An important part of this plan involves -

  1. raising awareness of Blink Image within the property sector.

  2. educating our clients - and potential clients - on how we can help them.

  3. managing and maintaining our ongoing relationships with our clients.

  4. increasing the number of regular/repeat clients.

Our expertise is working with clients and creating the visual assets they need to achieve their development objectives.

What it’s not is developing existing client relationships and fostering new ones.  Perhaps you’re just the person to help us?

Why We Want To Do This

  • We want to grow our audience.

  • We want to make sure people know we exist so when they have a need for our services, we are in their heads already.

  • In a competitive market, we need to let people know how we are different.

  • We need to target the right sort of clients and projects (i.e. NOT kitchen extensions but larger projects that are beyond the capacity and experience of many small studios and individuals).

  • We need to inform potential clients why we are the ‘obvious’ choice for them.

  • We need to communicate that fees are far less important than the value of a successful outcome for their project.

  • We want to turn one-off clients into long term relationships.

  • We want to upsell where we can and suggest other services that are beneficial to our clients.

  • We want to keep our clients informed and updated on how their project is progressing.

  • We need to keep an organised list of clients to make marketing activity effective and efficient.

  • Ultimately, we want to grow the business over the next 4-5 years.

The Role

We have various strategies for marketing and client communications but there is much room for development.

We continually have ideas about how to reach out to our audience (existing and potential) but lack the manpower and skills to act.

The role will include following leads and opportunities, social media management (LinkedIn etc), website upkeep, newsletters, but also regular client communications via email, meetings and phone.

We are also open to ideas from your own experience - there is very much the opportunity to make the role your own.

Benefits

We are a fully remote business. This brings huge advantages -

  • We can work from home

  • There is no commute

  • Flexibility

  • Geographically agnostic

  • Comfortable working

  • Pets to play with

  • Coffee and snacks when you need them!

But having these benefits mean a few things are crucial -

  • You need a fast, stable internet connection

  • You need your own solid PC

  • You need to manage your own software licenses

  • You must be fluent in English

Additional Information

The role is for a permanent, full-time position within Blink Image. Meetings and collaboration happen via Zoom, Slack, email and phone. When Conditions allow, we plan to have more regular physical meetings too.

This is a new and exciting venture for us.

If you like what you see and are interested in joining us to grow the business, we’d love to hear from you.
