Several interesting facts and figures came out of the Sheds & Logistics Development Conference yesterday. It was suggested by Feasibility Limited that an additional 92 million square feet of warehouse space will be needed by 2024 to cope with the growing demand for online retail. That's obviously great news for the sector.
But I sometimes find these sorts of facts and figures tricky to visualise, so, for a bit of fun...
Here is a representation of 92 million square feet (which is around 1 million square meters, give or take). It's a box, around 20m high (so a bit taller than your average industrial unit) 'plonked' in the heart of Canary Wharf.
Now that would be a big building! Seen like this, it perhaps doesn't seem quite as big as I had in my mind's eye.
What do you think?
I am sure I am not alone in 'getting my head around' facts and figures. The CGIs and films that we create help quickly communicate dry statistics and complex designs by turning them into memorable stories.
Vivid, visual stories help your audience 'get it'.
